The 208 GT packs hot-hatch pace into a city-friendly footprint — and looks brilliant doing it.
Category A COE makes small cars financially sensible in Singapore, but most feel like compromises. The Peugeot 208 GT is one of the few that feels like a choice rather than a concession.
We ran it as a daily driver for a fortnight.
Urban agility
At 4.05 metres long, the 208 slots into any parking space and darting through traffic is genuinely fun. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo produces 130bhp, which is enough to keep pace with expressway traffic without working the engine hard.
GT extras
The GT trim adds more than just badges.
- Sport suspension that remains comfortable on broken roads.
- Red interior accents and GT-specific seats.
- Black diamond roof and mirror caps.
- Enhanced infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay.
Economy
We averaged 7.1L/100km — excellent for a turbocharged hatchback and a meaningful saving over a Category B alternative.
Conclusion
The 208 GT is proof that downsizing does not have to mean downgrading.
